La Salle University (LSU) Holding Climate Change and Environmental Education Workshop on June 20-21 2014
Educators, environmentalists, and interested parties are cordially invited to join “Towards a Green Education in the Philippines: Workshops on Teaching the Environment and Climate Change Impacts in the New General Education Curriculum” at La Salle University (LSU), Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental on June 20-21 and at the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City on June 27-28 2014. This project aims to promote interdisciplinary approaches to nature and the environment. In addition, it hopes to gather educators, scholars, artists, researchers, and social practitioners and provide a forum to discuss ideas and strategies on the conduct of environmental engagement in the classrooms of higher educational institutions.
Its two objectives are:
- To encourage the core courses of the New General Educational Curriculum (CMO No. 20-s2013) to re-examine our vital connection to people, cultures, and places beyond the walls of academia
- To transform the learners of today into a critical mass and innovative force that works towards a green, productive, and sustainable future.
Resource speakers include Raymond Girard Tan, Wilfredo Roehl Licuanan, Rodne Galicha (Climate Reality Project Philippines), Rolando Borrinaga (University of the Philippines), Bro. Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR (Greenheart Hermitage). Facilitating the action program workshops are Marjorie Evasco, Miguel Rapatan, Romeo Lee, and Dennis Erasga. The overall convenor is Dominador Bombongan, Jr.
There is no registration fee; however, participants must see to their own travel arrangements, accommodation, and meals.
