2nd Term Institutional Orientation for Graduate Students (A.Y. 2013-14)

The Office of Student LIFE Graduate Student Programs and Services informs ALL GRADUATE STUDENTS who MISSED the 1st Term Institutional Orientation for AY 2013-14:

The next schedule will be on September 7, 2013 Saturday at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University Manila campus.

Attendance is REQUIRED for all new graduate students which means that there will be an automatic re-enrollment or re-assessment every term until you have attended the orientation. This should be taken on your first three terms in the program.

Please confirm your attendance on or before September 3 , 2013 (Tuesday). We will inform you of the time of your orientation upon confirmation of your attendance. Contact the Graduate Student Programs and Services Coordinator, Ms. Izel B. Lecture: “The Limits of Postcolonial Performativity” by Prof. Antonette Arogo | August 8, 2013

AS PART OF the  Cirilo F. Bautista Lecture Series, the Department of Literature cordially invites everyone to a lecture entitled, “Wrestling with the Angels”: The Limits of Postcolonial Performativity by Prof. Antonette Arogo. This will be held on August 08, 2013 (Thursday) at 2:40-4:10 p.m, Old Library 3rd Floor, Conf. Rm. 3A.


Antonette P. Talaue is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Literature of De La Salle University-Manila. She earned her Master of Arts Degree in Language and Literature at the same university. She was also a participant in The School of Criticism and Theory at Cornell University in 2009. At present, she is the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center Writing Fellow for Literary Criticism.

Transfer of CLA, COS & RVRCOB Departments & Offices to new locations effective July 2013

Peque Gallaga donates collections to DLSU

THE PEQUE GALLAGA Collections was formally turned over to De La Salle University in a ceremony held recently at the Learning Commons at the DLSU Henry Sy, Sr. Hall.

Maurice Ruiz de Luzuriaga Gallaga (HS ’61), popularly known as Peque Gallaga, a Lasallian and multi- awarded filmmaker, donated his prized collection of film- making memorabilia, including a compilation of still photos from the different movies he directed. He also turned over his original scripts, sketchpads, shot lists, production designs, shoot schedules, and promotional materials. Medals, certificates, plaques, and trophies awarded to him through the decades are also part of the exhibit.

8th Australian National eConference goes live online on May 16, 2013

THE THEOLOGY AND Religious Education Department of the College of Liberal Arts invites you to take part and view live the 8th Australian National eConference of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and the Broken Bay Institute entitled, “Gospel of St. Mark: A Crucified and Risen Messiah.” Keynote educators will be Fr. Francis Maloney, SDB and Sr. Michele Connolly, RSJ. This eConference will take place on May 16, 2013 (Thursday) at 8:30am – 12:30pm at Yuchengco Seminar Rooms 407-409.

DLSUPH releases Mabuhay!

MABUHAY!, A NOVEL about the Philippines during the second World War, was recently launched by De La Salle University Publishing House.

In the book, the late Marcial Lichauco and Carlos Quirino (HS’27) provided a rich historical account of wartime conditions in Manila and other parts of Luzon, particularly Bataan, where Filipino and American soldiers made their last stand. Quirino is National Artist for Historical Literature.
